Rising electricity prices call into question the social compatibility of the energy transition - politics, business and social organizations fear new "energy poverty" among low-income sections of the population. However, if the term energy poverty is defined as action-guiding rather than politically instrumentalized, it can help to make the energy transition socially responsible.
