Fuel Poverty Carbon Footprint

An initial investigation of the carbon emissions per capita of a selected group households that have been taken out of fuel poverty through standard programmes. The study will be based on interviews with 30 households that have received measures through affordable warmth programmes. The interviews will cover the major lifestyle contributions to carbon emissions and calculate a footprint based on the Government’s toolkit. A number of detailed case studies will provide policy makers, local authority actors and researchers with a basic description of the carbon lifestyles of those in and near fuel poverty in order to increase understanding of the potential conflict between the carbon emissions and fuel poverty agendas.
