Evidence Review of the Potential Wider Impacts of Climate Change Mitigation Options: Built Environment Sector
This evidence review was commissioned to support the Scottish Government’s Climate Change Plan. It summarises evidence, relevant to the Scottish context, of the potential wider impacts of Climate Change mitigation measures in the Built Environment sector. There are a number of potential co-benefits associated with Built Environment mitigation measures. For example, there is evidence that measures to improve residential energy efficiency (e.g. through insulation) can result in benefits to residents’ health, particularly among those living in fuel poverty. Physical health benefits can arise from warmer homes; and mental health benefits can arise from reduced energy bills and hence reduced stress.
