Energy Poverty in Greece: Social Innovation Recommendations to tackle the phenomenon


Energy poverty is now identified as a social issue with an ever-increasing significance and health impacts for millions of citizens at global scale. Aiming to highlight the adverse effects of energy poverty and contribute to the public dialogue regarding its tackling, Heinrich Boell Foundation Greece publishes this study in cooperation with “Wind of Renewal” (a Social Cooperative Enterprise for Social and Green Economy, Innovation and Culture) and the Institute of Zero Energy Buildings (INZEB). The study presents the factors that synthesize the multifaceted issue of energy poverty as well as its social, economic and environmental impacts. It also includes policies and best practices from various European countries. Furthermore, it provides a series of recommendations about tackling energy poverty in Greece indicating the way towards which energy poverty policies should shift.
