DescriptionSenior Engineer with 10+ years energy sector experience. Holds a Masters Degree in Mechanical Engineering (with distinction) attained from the University of Witwatersrand and is registered as a Professional Engineer with the Engineering Council of South Africa. He began his career as a Gas Turbine Engineer thereafter progressing to his current role as a Steam Generator Senior Engineer. He has worked in Japan and Germany as a Thermal Power Systems Researcher and Steam Generator Design Engineer and is also a published author of peer reviewed journal articles and international conference papers.
Upon starting his career he was mentored by an Electricité de France (EDF) power generation utility expert while functioning in an Owners Engineering role mainly involved in O&M Suport; Operation Troubleshooting, Investigations, Design Review and Concept Studies on large utility Return-To-Service mothballed power plants. He thereafter spent extended periods in Japan and Germany receiving mentorship from OEM experts. During his mentorship abroad he worked on Steam Generator Firing Systems Concept, Basic and Detailed Design retrofit projects as well as Fuel Characterization experiments. His previous roles include being Lead Discipline Engineer for three Power Plants' (1 x 600MWe, 6 x 600MWe and 8 x 200MWe) Firing System Projects (incl. NOx retrofit) at design and execution phase. In his current role as Engineering Design Work Lead, he has been responsible for successfully leading the local Manufacturing, Erection and Commissioning of an inaugural in-house EPCM Low NOx Burner Retrofit Project. He is currently studying towards a Postgraduate Diploma in Management at the Wits Business School Energy Leadership Centre.
