DescriptionAngela Santangelo, architectural engineer, is currently research fellow and Ph.D. candidate in Architecture at the University of Bologna. She graduated in 2012 at the University of Bologna, with a master thesis in urban planning at the Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. From 2013 to 2015 she has been research fellow at the University of Bologna, working on the EU project BUILD SEE about requalification of residential areas in South East Europe Regions. During her Ph.D., she has been visiting Ph.D. candidate at the Tsinghua University, Beijing, China, and Climate KIC Pioneer into Practice at the City of Helsinki, Finland. She is currently MC Substitute for Italy in the European Energy Poverty COST Action.
Her research has mainly focused on urban planning and particularly on the impact of occupant behaviour on building renovation policies for improving energy efficiency in the public housing sector.
She has recently started to focus on behaviour change as a strategy to alleviate energy poverty, particularly prevalent in social housing.
She is also very much interested in investigating further strategies to tackle energy poverty related to cooling behaviour, a growing phenomenon which has received so far much less attention than the heating patterns.
