Energy Efficiency at Household Buildings Programme

This measure provides households with financial assistance to improve the energy efficiency of their housing.

During the period 2014-2016, EUR 548 million were secured for the implementation of energy efficiency upgrading interventions in residential buildings. By October 2013, EUR 406 million had been provided to approximately 40,000 beneficiaries. In June 2016, the State renewed and modified the Programme in order to increase the number of beneficiaries. According to a recent study, however, the Programme has been proved to be insufficient due to its bureaucratic nature, its limited budget and other technical and procedural obstacles.
